driekoningen

Epiphany is the end of the festive holiday. It's not an official holiday in Belgium, but it is in certain parts of Europe (especially Spain, Italy...). Here in Belgium there is an old custom where children go from door to door to sing, and get treats and money. Unfortunately, this old habit has almost disappeared. There is also a saying in Dutch : on the epiphany holiday, king Winter enters the country. And so he did... It has been freeezing lately. Today I went out for groceries, and it was minus 11Celcius (12Fahrenheit). And this was at noon!

This weather calls for sitting inside, and enjoying the view of our garden in the snow...

... to finish colorfull sock for dark days...
... kleurige sokken voor donkere dagen te breien...

...and dream of spring...
