brioche-favorieten op Ravelry kijken, daar zitten ondertussen al 310 forumberichten, patronen, tutorials e.d... in verzameld).
One of my knitting resolutions for 2016 was: explore more of the brioche stitch. I already blogged about my Champagne Bubbles shawl, a combination of brioche stitch and lace. And there are still lots of other possibilities with brioche...I started favoriting patterns on Ravelry, and made a brioche-bundle (310 items now!)
Ik leer toch het best door gewoon veel (kleine) projecten te breien. In Nancy Marchants basisboek over de briochesteek,
Knitting Brioche, vond ik het patroon van deze muts, Delfts blauw. Het verspringend patroontje wordt gevormd door met de contrastkleur rechts over averechts te breien. Syncopatie wordt dit genoemd.
Even opzoeken op wikipedia: 'In de muziek spreekt men van een syncope wanneer een of meer tonen niet op de tel of puls vallen, waardoor een of meer normale accenten verlegd worden.' Met breien leer je altijd nieuwe dingen!
My best way of learning new things is to knit (small) projects. In Nancy Marchants standard book about the brioche stitch, 'Knitting Brioche', I found the pattern for this hat. The pattern is formed by knitting with the contrast color over the purl stitch. They call it syncopation, and I had to look this up. 'In music, syncopation involves a variety of rhythms which are in some way unexpected which make part or all of a tune or piece of music off-beat'. I always learn new things when knitting!
Uit het boek
'Knitting Fresh Brioche' breide ik deze col, 'ring of fire'. Weer een kans om minderingen en meerderingen te oefenen in tweekleuren brioche. Alleen had mijn kleurkeuze wel beter gekund, ik zocht gelijkaardige kleuren, maar er is net wat te weinig contrast om het patroon goed te zien.
From the book 'Knitting Fresh Brioche' I knitted this cowl, 'ring of fire'. It was another opportunity to practise increases and decreases in twocolor brioche. I am just not entirely happy with my colour choice. I was looking for similar colors, but there should have been a little bit more contrast to really see the pattern.
En toen vroeg de zoon een trui voor kerstmis... Hij stuurde deze foto van wat hij ongeveer wou. Kijk, dat is toch duidelijk patentsteek? De laatste zes weken heb ik dus niets anders gebreid. Het affe project moet nog geshowed en gefotografeerd worden, eens de foto's er zijn zal ik er uitgebreid over bloggen. En op de planning voor 2017: nog meer brioche projecten...
And then dear son asked a handknit sweater as a Christmas gift. He sent me this picture of what he was looking for. Clearly a brioche sweater! I have been knitting feverlishly on it for the last six weeks. Once I have modeled pictures of the sweater, I will blog about it. But it's already clear in my mind, there will be more brioche projects in 2017....
