Op-Art socks - Alhambra

This is the next sock from the Op-Art book, Alhambra.
From the book : 'A tiling of interlocking figures such as circles, squares, or hexagons may lead the viewer’s eye from one to another figure. But after a while, the viewer’s focus tends to flip back and forth between them. This type of reverse tiling of interlocking figures is often found in Arabic ornamentation, such as in designs at the Alhambra, a fourteenth-century castle in Granada, Spain'. And I add my picture of the Alcazar in Seville...

First try: I am doing the small version over 64 stitches, on a 3 mm needle. Hope this will be enough stitches for a stranded sock. The yarn is supersoft LanaGrossa Meilenweit soja in turquoise and mintgreen.
Maar zoals verwacht wordt dit te strak. Deze sok kan niet over mijn voet.
As I suspected, 64 stitches is too tight. No way this sock will fit me...
Second try: I could  knit the sock over 72 stitches with the same yarn, but I feel like trying out another colorcombination. So I am doing the sock over 64 stitches with  thicker yarn. I am using Wollmeise DK (color Fritzi) and Blackberry ridge fingering tightspun (color Raspberry), on 3mm needles. It is still too tight for these socks. I could frog down to the cuff and try with 72 stitches, or try a 3th time with different yarn…
Tirth try: 64 stitches with Wollmeise DK+blackberry ridge fingering tightspun on 4.5mm works! But it looks a bit sloppy. The sock fits though. I frogged back to row 10 or so, I kept the original cuff. I hope with washing the stitches will even out.

Finished: warm and cozy socks, but too thick to wear them in shoes. I’ll keep them as house slippers.
